I dig this post! The color-coded buttons are such a great idea to spur "what if this" reactions. I do the same thing with daily journal prompts. Getting options for the first few words for free lets ideas flow that might otherwise never be said.
I also love using that version of Flashtags, I believe Shishir calls it. Soliciting feedback with "hill dying status" options opens all of it up more, doesn't it?
Totally, getting the first few words definitely helps ideas flow!
Also wrote about Flashtags in one of the first posts -- https://lane.substack.com/p/flashtags. Like @Shishir said, it's Dharmesh's ritual but we've started to adopt it more and more too.

Thanks! I need to keep reading the rest of your posts. These are great, Lane. Keep 'em coming.
Yes exactly. Re Flashtags - that's actually Dharmesh's thing (https://www.onstartups.com/flashtags-a-simple-hack-for-conveying-context-without-confusion), but this technique is quite similar.
It's super helpful for the team to have a sense for the "hill dying status" for stakeholders in the braintrust. Clearly actionable.
Clever and simple. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it and you wonder “why didn’t I think of this before”.
Great stuff Lane. Keep it coming 💪
